![]() There’s no chance of ever seeing this film, because it’s lost. Remake of the silent film The Cat and the Canary (1927) about an elderly millionaire on the verge of dying and the greedy family members who want to inherit the fortune. Generally, if it’s included in there, I’m listing it here. I’m mostly using the book Universal Horrors by Tom Weaver, Michael Brunas, and John Brunas as my reference. Some of them have elements of horror and others do not. ![]() Also, Universal made 12 Sherlock Holmes films during this period. Some of them are difficult to classify at all. It’s also tough to decide which films to count within this period, because many of them are not “horror” and are closer to the mystery/ suspense genre. It’s tempting to include Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) as the final one, but then I might as well include all the Abbott and Costello “Meet” movies from the 50’s, and at that point, I’d be deep into Universal’s science fiction period which would open up a whole new can of worms! ![]() It’s debatable when exactly this period began and ended. ![]() ![]() This is my attempt at cataloguing all the Universal Studios horror films from their classic period (1930-1946). ![]()
